[GAOGONG Lithium Reporter Hu Wei] The reporter of GaOGong Lithium recently learned that the first phase of the project invested by Shanxi Hongte Group to build high-end lithium-ion battery anode materials with an annual output of 20,000 tons has been put into production.
It is understood that Shanxi Hongte Coal Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. is a modern large-scale coal tar deep processing professional company, integrating production, scientific research and sales. Its industrial structure takes coal – coking – chemical-carbon material as its main business, and the upstream and downstream industrial chains depend on each other.
At present, Hongte Group has the most complete production line of anode materials in China, and has completed the first-phase annual production capacity of 5000 tons. It plans to complete the second phase with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons in 2014, with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons. It is planned to complete the third phase of 10,000 tons in 2015, and finally achieve an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons.
Zhang Yunfa, the anode materials project director, tells the reporter, Hongte, the product process of the lithium-ion battery cathode material is on the basis of digesting and absorbing the latest technology and innovation of new product, is made of mesophase pitch after high temperature and high pressure polymerization, after calcining, grinding ball, cladding, carbonization and graphitization. After testing and evaluation by Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Central South University and many enterprises in the industry, it has reached the level of high-end products. Now the product quality is stable, the performance is excellent.
The reporter learned that lithium-ion battery anode materials can probably be divided into several categories, the first is alloy and oxide, the second is hard carbon and soft carbon, the third is intermediate phase, the fourth is natural graphite, the fifth is artificial graphite. The first is natural graphite, the second is artificial graphite, and the two together are close to 90%. Globally, China and Japan are the major producers and sellers of anode materials in the world, accounting for more than 95% of the global production and sales of anode materials.
In recent years, the capacity of the anode material industry has grown rapidly. Data show that in terms of sales volume, in the first half of 2013, the sales volume of domestic anode materials reached 16,560 tons, with a year-on-year growth of 19.8%. Affected by the steady growth of the terminal market, the shipments of anode materials will continue to grow. (END)
